As an Embedded Systems Engineer at Origin, you will help us bring safety, security, and smarts to every home, business, and car in the world. This role is perfect for someone who aspires to join a well-funded and technically sound company that is ready to scale.
A day on the job
As an Embedded Systems Developer within the hardware group at Origin, you will use your Linux know-how as an asset on all aspects of our firmware and hardware development.

Provide key Linux and C/C++ skills to port Origin’s sensing algorithms onto a variety of hardware devices, implementing the necessary communications protocols, security layers, and much more

Collaborate with Origin’s chipset partners to unlock new WiFi sensing platforms “Powered by Origin”. Use your Linux kernel knowledge to interface directly with WiFi kernel module drivers and/or HAL wrappers.

Deploy Origin’s WiFi Sensing stack across various hardware platforms and devices (routers, mesh WiFi, IoT, anything with a WiFi chip!)

Optimize Origin’s firmware stack to reduce CPU load, memory requirements, and code footprint
Our preferred qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer engineering, computer science or equivalent

2 to 5 years of working experience in embedded systems

Language: C++, C, Python, shell script, Matlab (optional)

Systems: Linux, FreeRTOS

Knowledge: network protocol/stack, object-oriented design and programming, multi-thread design

Experience with one or all: Yocto, Buildroot, OpenWRT build environments

Linux sysadmin skills: shell scripting, sed, awk, grep etc.

Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI, CD) with Jenkins

Knowledge of embedded system building, toolchain, testing and development, Wi-Fi technology fundamentals

Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills

Ability to collaborate with a development team
